Out of State License Applying for Oklahoma Real Estate License

Oklahoma resident applicants that currently or have had a real estate license in another state commonly ask what they need to do to receive a real estate license in Oklahoma. While the full procedures are laid out in 605:10-7-10 of the OREC Code and Rules, the two main question themes are the following: “What real estate classes do I need to take?” and “Will I need to take a state exam?”

“What real estate classes do I need to take?” and “Will I need to take the state exam?”

• If Oklahoma has a non-resident agreement with the “state,” the applicant has or had a real estate license –
  • Education required
    • Proof of completion of at least one (1) continuing education clock hour in each of the following classes Oklahoma-specific subjects
      • Broker Relationships Act
      • Contracts and Forms
      • Code and Rule Updates
      • Yes, but only the state portion of the exam. The vendor of the state exam’s bulletin provides an outline of the categories covered. You can view this outline on their website when scheduling your exam.
      • If the applicant’s real estate sales or broker license has been active for two out of the last five years and has not been inactive more than six months before application as an Oklahoma resident applicant
        • Education required
          • Proof of completion of at least one (1) continuing education clock hour in each of the following classes Oklahoma-specific subjects
            • Broker Relationships Act
            • Contracts and Forms
            • Code and Rule Updates

            • Shall be required to apply as an original applicant
              • Contact the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission at 405-521-3387 to find out what education you are required to complete. They MAY accept previous education at their discretion; pending the education was not completed more than three years ago (§858-302 A & (§858-303 A)
              • Yes, the entire exam (national & state topics)
